Through exploratory research, hands-on construction, teamwork, and imagination, FIRST® LEGO® League Jr. challenges teams of up to six children to explore a scientific concept, then build a model and code it to make it move using LEGO® Education WeDo 2.0. They also develop a Show Me Poster to illustrate their journey of discovery.
FIRST® LEGO® League gives teams of up to 10 students the chance to research a real-world challenge, then innovate and develop their own solution through designing, building, and coding LEGO® MINDSTORMS® robots to perform autonomous “missions” on a playing field.
DEFINING THEIR ODYSSEY
With limited time and resources, teams of students, with the support of adult mentors, build and program robots to perform challenging tasks in competition with other teams. They raise funds, design a team “brand,” hone teamwork and presentation skills, and perform community outreach. In addition to learning valuable STEM and life skills, participants are eligible to apply for $80M+ in college scholarships.
