Introduction to Volunteering with FIRST

Join us in shaping the next generation of changemakers! Having fun, feeling energized, and being fulfilled are all benefits of volunteering with FIRST. When you join our community, you’ll experience the excitement that our programs can be for students and adults alike. It does not matter whether you have four hours on a weekend, want to mentor or coach for a season, or just want to be a part of the overall experience – there are opportunities for every kind of volunteer. When you say, “Yes, I want to help!” you’re also helping our non-profit organisation fuel its mission of changing the world – one student at a time.

Register to Become a FIRST Volunteer

  • The first step is to create a FIRST account at www.firstinspires.org to access the FIRST Volunteer Dashboard. Check out the step-by-step registration user guide for more information about this process!
  • The second step Is to pass the Youth Protection Process (YPP). Volunteers over the age of majority must pass the free Youth Protection Program (YPP) screening process. You will receive an email indicating that you passed the screening within one to two days. Sign in to your FIRST account at www.firstinspires.org and follow the step-by-step video to complete the screening.
  • The third step is to sign up at FIRST Inspires  for a volunteer position at an event. To see all event listings, visit the event page at firstroboticscanada.org/events and check back regularly to see additional events as they are posted.
  • The fourth step is to complete the role-specific training once assigned to your role by the event’s Volunteer Coordinator (VC). The VC will be our main point of contact for training and logistics for the event.
