Information about FIRST Canada Grants
Before applying, please email the program lead to ensure funds are still available
Please note that funding is given on a first-come-first-serve basis. Grants are given out on a first come first served basis and at the discretion of FIRST Canada's granting committee.
There are a maximum of two competitive grants given to competitive teams
If your application is approved you are only eligible to receive either a competitive grant or a Class Pack/School Pack grant
Prior to filling out a grant application please have ready for upload to the form your 'Proof of Equipment Purchased'

Team Grant Criteria
- This grant cannot be combined with the LEGO Foundation, Class Pack, or School Pack grants
- To be eligible, teams must be a part of a school, recognized company or community group such as a home school group, library etc.
- Grants are to be used for the creation of up to FIVE new single FIRST LEGO League Explore teams per school/organization. If your organization runs less than 5 single FLL Explore teams you may apply for more funding until you reach 5 teams after that no additional grants will be approved
- Teams must commit to the program from a minimum of one year and participate in an official Ontario Festival
Class and School Pack Grant Criteria
- To be eligible, teams must be a part of a school, recognized company or community group such as a home school group, library etc.
- Teams must commit to the program from a minimum of one year and participate in an official Ontario Festival
- This grant cannot be combined with the LEGO Foundation

Applying for a Team Grant
- Click here for instructions about how to create a user profile and Class Pack account and to purchase a FIRST LEGO League Explore Class Pack. Please await notification from FIRST Headquarters that your payment has been processed.
- Order enough LEGO WeDo 2.0 Core Sets to meet your desired student to robot ratio (recommend 4:1 or 7 WeDo 2.0 Core Sets kits for a class of 28) from B&B Education by contacting Nathalie Laquerre at nathalielb@bb.ca or (416) 616-7472 or from Spectrum by contacting customer service at (800) 668-0600.
- Please retain proof of payment for both the Class Pack and robotics equipment as these will be required for completion of the grant application.

- Teams can have up to 6 members. If eligible you can fund up to 5 teams, in total
Class Pack Grant
- Are you looking to bring FIRST LEGO League Explore to your classroom or community for the first time? If so, you may be eligible to receive a Class Pack grant in the amount of $2200 CAD OR
- Are you a teacher who has already run FIRST LEGO League Explore in your classroom or community? If eligible, your school or organization could receive a grant in the amount of $750 CAD
School Pack Grant
- Are you a bringing FIRST LEGO League Explore to your school for the first time? If eligible, you could receive a School Pack Grant in the amount of $5200 CAD OR
- Are you a school who has already run FIRST LEGO League Explore? If eligible, your school could receive a grant in the amount of $1300 CAD
