Some of the Forest City’s brightest young minds took over the auditorium of Western University’s John George Althouse Building on Dec. 6 to go head-to-head against each other in the FIRST Lego League (FLL) London Qualifying tournament.

Hosted by Western Engineering’s FIRST mentorship club, a total of 14 teams made up of youth between the ages of nine to 14 years-old from across the London area were on hand at the event. Putting their Lego MindStorms creations to the test, teams were awarded points for successfully completing various challenges from opening a door to putting a ball in a net during a set period of time.

After a day of intense competition, it was Team 3419, Lego My Lego rising above the fray to take top spot at the event and qualify for the upcoming FLL Ontario Provincial Championship West being held at University of Waterloo on Feb. 7.
