FRC 2013 Kickoff and Quick Build
January 5th is fast approaching and so is the FRC 2013 kickoff at the Ontario Science Centre and quick build session.
Teams that have been confirmed to be going to the quick build session at Crescent High School are: 4039, 4618, 4595, 4718, 4476, 4704, 4525, 4152, 4658, 4777, 4808, and 3560. If your team is not on this list and you would like to be added, please contact John Hobbins ASAP. For teams that will be attending the quick build, ensure that your mentoring team sends the names of one mechanical mentor with kitbot building experience, one programming mentor and one electrical mentor who will accompany you to the session to John Hobbins. Teams attending the session should bring as many of the following with them as possible (if they are unable to bring something, contact John Hobbins and let him know what you are unable to bring):
- 1-2 laptops (wireless will be available)
- *flash drive or memory stick
- 1 Hacksaw
- File and Emery paper
- 1 Soldering iron – and solder
- Cordless Drill, with 3/16″ allen head bit
- 7/16″ combination wrench
- Pliers
- Hammer
- Tape Measure
- Scissors
- Marking pencil/pen/marker/masking tape
- Flat head and Phillips screwdrivers
- wire strippers
- wire cutters
- wire crimpers (a good set with 7″ long handles, a very good investment for teams for electronic connections)
- Phillips #2 screwdriver
- Wago flat screwdriver (search internet for details)
- Sticky back Velcro
Kick Off Schedule:
8:30am Check-In Front Lobby then up Escalator to Meet & Greet area, Lev-1
9:15 – 10:15am National Instruments Group to Gemini West Room, Lev-2, others to Telus Conf Rm, Lev-1 “Intro to Robot Simulator for FRC”
9:30-10:30am Trivia game in Telus Conf Room Lev-1
10:30-11:30 Broadcast in Telus Conf Room Lev-1
11:30-12:30 Kit distribution (only 1 student + 1 adult per team)

5:00-5:30 Dinner and work
5:30-7:30 Trouble shooting & completion of robot
8:00 Doors close
Click here for access to a surrogate letter. Teams must send this surrogate letter to FIRST USA before Dec 30 in order to have another person/team pick up your kit of parts on Jan 5th at the Ontario Science Centre.
